Michigan v. USC prediction & betting tips - September 22 | College Football Week 4

The fourth week of the 2024 NCAA season will see an exciting showdown as the no.11 ranked USC Trojans travel to the 'The Big House' in Ann Arbor for a battle with the no.18 ranked Michigan Wolverines.

Michigan is coming off a convincing 28-18 victory over the Arkansas State Red Wolves on Saturday, September 14th, a game where Wolverines running back Kalel Mullings rushed for 153 yards and two touchdown scores.

Meanwhile, the Trojans had the previous weekend off thanks to a bye and currently hold a record of 2-0. They last played on Saturday, September 7th against the Utah State Aggies, who they shut out for a dominating 48-0 win.

Star Quarterback Miller Moss threw for 229 yards and a touchdown while running back Jo'quavious Marks added another score on the ground. The Trojans defense managed to complete the shutout with only one takeaway.

Michigan vs. USC prediction

Junior Alex Orji will be starting as Quarterback for Michigan after Davis Warren's poor play, including six interceptions and only two touchdowns, through the first three weeks.

While the position change seems necessary, it could take Orji some time to find his rhythm with the Wolverines receiving core. Head coach Sherrone Moore may again be looking to Kalel Mullings to lead his team to victory after a strong performance last Saturday. Moore will also need his defense to slow down USC's Miller Moss, who has been having his way with secondaries so far.

USC has looked strong in their first two outings and is considered the betting favorite against Michigan. One thing to note, Michigan rarely loses at home. The Wolverines have not lost at 'The Big House' since 2020 a stellar win-streak of 20+ straight games.

The Trojans, like Michigan, will aim to win the game with a prepared ground attack. The duo of Jo'quavious Marks and Quinten Joyner had a big week against Utah State. They'll hope to repeat the performance, especially since Michigan's Will Johnson (a top-10 cornerback) and defensive tackle Mason Graham will do everything in their power to keep Miller Moss and the passing game at bay.

USC's defense is running high after giving up zero points two weeks ago, but Michigan is not Utah State.
