Oklahoma State HC Mike Gundy admits to exceeding legal drinking limit in shocking confession

Mike Gundy and the Oklahoma State Cowboys finished with a 10-4 record in 2023. It marked just the 11th time - and eighth in his 19 seasons - that the program has finished with at least ten wins.

Much of their success was due to the performance of running back Ollie Gordon II, who led the NCAA with 1,732 rushing yards and 21 touchdowns on 285 carries. He also added 330 receiving yards and one touchdown on 39 receptions.

The sophomore was named a unanimous first-team All-American and Big 12 Offensive Player of the Year. He also took home the Doak Walker Award and Earl Campbell Tyler Rose Award as the nation's top running back and top offensive player, respectively.

Gordon II found himself in trouble earlier this offseason as he was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence on June 30. Gundy revealed during the Big 12 Media Days that his star running back will not miss time to begin the season. He later shared the shocking reason he opted not to suspend the All-American, stating:

"So, I looked it up on my phone, 'what would be the legal limit?' In Oklahoma, it's 0.08 and Ollie was 0.10. So, I looked it up and it was based on body weight. Not to get into the legal side of it, but I thought really two or three beers or four - I'm not justifying what Ollie did, I'm telling you what decision I made - well, I thought, 'I've probably done that a thousand times in my life and it's just fine."

He continued:

"So, I got lucky. People get lucky. Ollie made a decision that he wishes he could've done better, but when I talked to Ollie I told him, I said, 'you're lucky you got out light because you make a lot of money to play football."

Mike Gundy praises Deion Sanders as Colorado Buffaloes join Big 12

Deion Sanders is likely the biggest name in college football as his star power has brought plenty of attention to the Colorado Buffaloes. With the program set to enter the Big 12 ahead of the 2024 season, Oklahoma State Cowboys coach Mike Gundy praised the College and Pro Football Hall of Famer, stating:

"I think that we're lucky in our league that he's with us because he brings more people, notoriety and viewers to the Big 12 Conference. That's what makes it go; we need viewership and we want people to watch our teams play.
"It'll be fun to have him in our league. It's fun for me to have Colorado back in our league and to be able to compete against him. I can only imagine what his competitive level is so that'll be fun." [h/t Yahoo Sports]

Sanders's arrival at Colorado last season brought a tremendous amount of viewership to the program. His Buffaloes are set to finish the regular season by hosting Gundy's Cowboys on November 29.
