“My literal bestie”: Auburn HC Hugh Freeze receives warm birthday wish from daughter Ragan Freeze
Hugh Freeze turned 55 on Friday, a day before the Auburn Tigers play the Oklahoma Sooners. His daughter Ragan Freeze shared images on her Instagram account to celebrate his dad's special day and captioned the post:
"Happy birthday to my literal bestie. You truly couldn’t get any better & life is so sweet because of you!!!!!"
Freeze replied to the post:
"Love you so much."
Hugh Freeze and his daughters are close and often make time to spend with each other. The three and their mom, Jill Freeze, are a regular sight at the Auburn games, cheering on Hugh's team.
The Auburn coach's daughters, Jordan, Ragan and Madison, once approached their dad to vacation in the Bahamas—an offer he could not refuse. He said, as per AL.com:
“We’re taking a whole family trip at the end of June. Grandbabies, daughters, their husbands and we’re going to the Bahamas. I’ve never done that before. I said, ‘Yes, let’s do it.’ Because you’ve gotta make time for it and certainly you better make it intentional or it won’t happen.”
As he spends his second year coaching at The Plains, Freeze is not void of the light-hearted criticism that he faced from Ole Miss coach Lane Kiffin.
Lane Kiffin takes a sly shot at Hugh Freeze at SEC weekly coaches' conference
Ole Miss coach Lane Kiffin took a jab at Auburn and Hugh Freeze as they prepare to play against Oklahoma after a 24-14 loss to Arkansas in Week 4.
During the Southeastern Conference teleconference call, Freeze appreciated Kiffin and Ole Miss' system of funneling NIL to players. In reply to Freeze's comments, Lane said:
"That’s nice of him. I’m sure he’ll try to steal (collective CEO) Walker Jones like he did all our coaches."
Kiffin referenced Derrick Nix, the former Ole Miss associate head coach and wide receivers coach, who departed from the team to the Auburn Tigers in January.
