"Never too late": Coach Prime's ex-wife Pilar Sanders defends her decision to hype up Shedeur's epic play after two weeks
Coach Deion Sanders' Colorado Buffaloes were defeated by the No. 18 Kansas State Wildcats on Saturday. The 31-28 loss ended their three-game win streak and left them with a 4-2 record. However, Sanders' ex-wife, Pilar Sanders, seems to be still reliving that winning streak.
While many fans were preparing to react to the on-field action of Saturday's matchup, Pilar posted about a game from two weeks ago where her son, Shedeur Sanders, shone for his team. On Saturday, she uploaded an Instagram video of Colorado fans rushing the field after the Buffs 38-31 win over the Baylor Bears on Sept. 22. Pilar accompanied the post with the following caption:
"One of thee most Epic games of this season thus far! It was a Cold Dark Rainy Night, … at the last of 2 seconds my son @shedeursanders threw a Hail Mary..,, caught by @lajohntayw in the end zone! we went into Overtime……… We WON!!!!"
When she was told in the comments that the post may be too late, she responded:
"Celebrations are never too late especially when its #LEGENDARY"
The Hail Mary that Shedeur Sanders threw against the Baylor Bears in that game was impressive. The Buffaloes had been trailing for most of the game, and this play as time ran out tied things up and sent the game to overtime.
At the time, this was something that Pilar Sanders was proud of, even taking credit for it at one point. However, since then, the Buffaloes and the rest of the college football world have moved on.
How did Shedeur Sanders play against Kansas State?
In the loss to the Kansas State Wildcats, Shedeur Sanders posted a strong stat line. He threw 388 yards (going 34 from 40) and three touchdowns. This was more than the 341 yards he threw against Baylor, but as the Buffaloes lost and there was no Hail Mary, Pilar Sanders will probably not focus on this.
Shedeur did get praise from analyst Skip Bayless, who posted on X Sunday morning:
“I'LL SAY IT AGAIN — THE BEST PASSER IN COLLEGE FOOTBALL IS SHEDEUR SANDERS. THE TOUGHEST QB I'VE SEEN IN COLLEGE FOOTBALL IS SHEDEUR SANDERS, WHO STILL DOESN'T HAVE GREAT PROTECTION. THE CLUTCHEST QB IN COLLEGE FOOTBALL IS … HIM.”
Win or loss, Shedeur Sanders is going to make big plays and throw for many yards in the remaining games of the season. However, for some, his Hail Mary against Baylor will be the thing he is most known for.
