NFL legend Troy Aikman delivers clear verdict on Shedeur Sanders as he prepares to enter the big league
Shedeur Sanders is set to enter the 2025 NFL draft after four strong collegiate years. The Colorado quarterback will suit up one final time for the Buffs in the 2024 Alamo Bowl game against the BYU Cougars on Dec. 28.
While Shedeur has garnered a lot of attention from fans and analysts, NFL legend Troy Aikman has jumped on the bandwagon to praise the Colorado signal-caller. Aikman, who won three Super Bowls as the Dallas Cowboys quarterback, spoke to TMZ this week and delivered a clear verdict on Shedeur as he prepares to enter the big league.
In the interview posted on Sunday, Aikman said,
"I do think he is a franchise QB," Aikman said. "I love his game. What he has been able to do has been remarkable. My expectation is that he is going to have a hell of career."
Notably, Aikman played with Shedeur's father, Deion Sanders since the two were part of the Cowboys team from 1995 to 1999. They won Super Bowl XXX together when Dallas beat the Pittsburgh Steelers 27-17 on Jan. 28, 1996.
Shedeur Sanders picked up two major individual awards after fabulous 2024 regular season with Colorado
Shedeur Sanders picked up two major individual honors this year, after a strong regular season with the Colorado Buffaloes. He was named the Big 12 Offensive Player of the Year and won the Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Award.
Shedeur finished with 3,926 passing yards, 35 passing touchdowns, eight interceptions and four rushing touchdowns across 12 games for the Buffs. He led Colorado (9-3, 7-2 Big 12) to the No. 23 ranking, but the team narrowly missed qualifying for the Big 12 title game.
Many fans and analysts believe Shedeur will likely get drafted early in the first round. The New York Giants and Las Vegas Raiders are rumored to be in contention to pick Shedeur since both teams need a starting quarterback.
Nonetheless, Shedeur will aim to boost his draft stock even further when Colorado plays Big 12 rival BYU in the Alamo Bowl on Dec. 28.
