"Nightmare of nightmares": Former Colorado HC Rick Neuheisel offers take on Matt Rhule and Co. after Nebraska loses third straight game
Former Colorado coach Rick Neuheisel has spoken about Matt Rhule and Nebraska's struggles in recent weeks. The Cornhuskers had a bright start to the 2024 season, but have now lost three games in a row and are in danger of missing a bowl game if their slump continues.
Neuheisel, now working as an analyst for CBS, offered his take on Rhule's plight and Nebraska fans, on the Full Ride radio show on Sirius XM on Tuesday.
"It's happening," Neuheisel said. "The nightmare of nightmares for what may be the best fanbase in all of college sports. The Nebraska Cornhuskers faithful, they have been as patient as anybody could possibly be with their home school.
"Their beloved Cornhuskers, they have now lost three in a row. They still sit at five wins on the season."
Neuheisel also talked about Nebraska's challenging schedule for the remainder of the season, highlighting that the Cornhuskers may struggle to close out the season with another win if quarterback Dylan Raiola isn't available for the next three games.
Nebraska has a bye in Week 11. The Cornhuskers will return to action against the USC Trojans (4-5, 2-5 in Big Ten) on Nov. 16. They will then host Wisconsin (5-4, 3-3 in Big Ten) in their final home game of the regular-season game on Nov. 23 before making the trip to face Iowa (6-3, 4-2 in Big Ten) on Nov. 29.
Matt Rhule's Nebraska appoint Dana Holgorsen as new offensive consultant
On Tuesday, ESPN's Pete Thamel reported that Dana Holgorsen was being hired as Nebraska's new offensive consultant. He will join the Cornhuskers' offensive staff and work closely with Matt Rhule, heading into the final stretch of the regular season.
Holgorsen has spent 13 seasons as a head coach, compiling a 92-69 overall record. He had an eight-year sojourn with West Virginia and then had a five-year spell at Houston.
This season, Holgorsen had been working as an analyst and advanced scout for TCU. He is reportedly leaving the Horned Frogs to join Nebraska.
