"Not one soul": Keyshawn Johnson makes a passionate plea in Coach Prime's support after Colorado's 9-3 seasonĀ
Keyshawn Johnson is a big believer in the work of Coach Prime at Colorado. On Wednesday's episode of "All Facts No Brakes with Keyshawn Johnson," the former NFL star discussed with his son the merits of Colorado's 2024. He highlighted all the achievements of Deion Sanders and his players in 2024, saying:
"Everybody had him (Deion Sanders) at the bottom of the barrel in the Big 12 conference. He goes 9-3, and it very well should've, could've been 10-2. They'll be playing this Saturday in the Big 12 championship in Arlington, Texas, when nobody at all, not one soul wanted to give the man credit for doing the things he has done.
"He'll have the Davey O'Brien quarterback guy in his son Shedeur who will win that. He'll win some other award. He'll have the Heisman Trophy winner in Travis Hunter." [15:20]
He went on to argue that Travis Hunter was snubbed by the voters of the Jim Thorpe Award and that he should've won that award together with the Biletnikoff and Heisman. Johnson was right that Shedeur Sanders would win other awards, as he has already clinched the Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Award.
Coach Prime's message to departing Colorado stars ahead of the NFL draft
Deion Sanders used one of his last chances to address the departing Colorado players. The message was especially aimed at the stars of the Buffs, Shedeur Sanders and Travis Hunter:
"Guys like Travis and Shedeur are guys that are going to go high, high first round. You will be followed probably from now until the draft. So, understand that if I'm a team and I'm investing a hot pick in you ... trust me, they're going to know everything you do, everything you know. All the little homies and friends."
"They are going to interview back where you came from. They will be on your butts like crazy."
That's still ahead. At the moment, the Buffaloes rejoice in their achievements. They're headed for their first bowl appearance since 2020 and completed their first winning season since 2016.
If they win their bowl, it will be the school's first bowl victory since 2004. Travis Hunter and Shedeur Sanders broke the single-season receiving touchdowns and single-season passing yardage school records respectively. Sanders is the first Buffalo to win the Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Award, and Hunter could become just the second player in school history to win the Heisman.
