"Now ya'll see the light huh": Coach Prime highlights dark reality of transfer portal in recent IG post

The NCAA transfer portal is in overdrive as the 2024 season winds down, and Deion Sanders, aka Coach Prime, took notice. Sanders took to Instagram to address a graphic that revealed the staggering reality of the transfer portal.

The graphic stated that 2707 FBS football players entered the transfer portal in 2024 (25%). It also revealed that 30% of players who entered the transfer portal in 2023 made it out or got signed. Sanders shared the date on his Instagram Story and captioned it:

Coach Prime previously said about the transfer portal, claiming:

"You’re gonna get vetted thoroughly by us, and then I pray you know the difference of being offered a bag and being offered a blessing."

NIL deals are changing the nature of college sports, with student-athletes looking to make as much money as possible. However, Coach Prime’s focus is clear—he’s building a team grounded in character and opportunity, not just cash.

It’s a formula that worked for him this year. After flipping Colorado’s roster with 42 transfers, Sanders turned a 4-8 team into a 9-3 team. Colorado stars like Deion’s son, Shedeur Sanders, and Travis Hunter will leave for the NFL, but the 57-year-old coach is already recruiting big names like Liberty QB Kaidon Salter.

However, before reloading, the Buffaloes have one last hurdle: the Valero Alamo Bowl against BYU.

Coach Prime welcomes Bill Belichick to college football

Another NFL household name will be in the college football landscape apart from Deion Sanders, as six-time Super Bowl-winning coach Bill Belichick has signed a 5 year, $50 million deal to rake the reins at the University of North Carolina.

Reactions poured in from across the sport, with Coach Prime welcoming Belichick to the new challenge. He said,

“Coach Bill Belichick is a coaches’ Coach to All us Coaches along with my man Coach Saban! They’re game changers and they know how to move people forward. I know this is a great thing for College Football & for North Carolina.”

It’s a classy endorsement from Sanders, who understands the scrutiny that comes with a high-profile transition into college football. While not everyone agrees, many analysts, including ESPN’s Paul Finebaum, are hailing this hire.
