Oregon legend Kenjon Barner fires back at Joel Klatt for snubbing iconic Ducks duo in bold Chip Kelly take
Joel Klatt caught some heat on Saturday following the Ohio State Buckeyes' 49-14 win over the Marshall Thundering Herd in Week 4.
Klatt gave a bold take on Ohio State offensive coordinator Chip Kelly and the Buckeyes' star running back tandem of TreVeyon Henderson and Quinshon Judkins.
During Saturday's broadcast, Klatt crowned the duo as the best RB tandem Kelly has ever coached. The comment garnered some backlash on X and Oregon legend Kenjon Barner fueled the flames with the caption on his repost.
He responded to a post that argued LaMichael James and Barner are the best RB duo Kelly has coached.
"Get 'em," Barner commented with a laughing emoji.
Barner and James combined for 9,882 yards and 105 touchdowns under Chip Kelly. Both earned All-American honors and James won the 2010 Doak Walker Award. The pair is considered one of the greatest RB tandems in college football history but Judkins and Henderson appear to be on that path.
How has Chip Kelly's Ohio State duo performed this season
Though they'll only play one season together, Quinshon Judkins and TreVeyon Henderson are undoubtedly heading toward becoming a historic RB duo given their play to start this season.
Against Marshall, they combined for 249 rushing yards and four touchdowns on just 20 carries — six for Henderson and 14 for Judkins. Through three games, the duo has combined for 64 touches and racked up 575 total yards and nine touchdowns.
Judkins and Henderson are averaging over 191 yards per game on 21 carries for 9.1 yards per touch and are on track to notch over 2,300 yards and 36 touchdowns in just the regular season.
Both backs are posting efficient numbers despite splitting carries. Ohio State's backfield looks like arguably the best in the nation with Chip Kelly at the helm. The Buckeyes are 14th in rushing yards and are tied for sixth among FBS schools in rushing touchdowns.
