Paul Finebaum drops eye-catching remark on Coach Prime & Colorado after their win over Arizona

Coach Prime and Paul Finebaum have been going at each other this 2024 college football season. So far, the ESPN analyst and the Colorado head coach have taken turns jabbing at each other. When Colorado wins, it’s Sanders' day to respond to Finebaum’s flak, and when the Buffs lose, the veteran analyst has a field day taking shots at the Pro Football Hall of Famer.

However, they both respect each other and give credit where it’s due, and Finebaum did that when Sanders’ Colorado posted an impressive 34-7 victory over the Arizona Wildcats in Week 8. Appearing on “The Matt Barrie Show,” Finebaum discussed how Coach Prime has been quieter recently, letting his team’s performance do the talking.

"Deion has not been as vocal the last month," ESPN’s Matt Barrie said.

This prompted Finebaum to chime in with some sarcasm, taking credit for it before turning serious.

“We should be appreciating and complimenting Deion Sanders for what he does on the field, not for the show,” Finebaum said.

Finebaum emphasized how the focus should shift to Sanders' success, crediting him for overcoming key injuries, including those to Travis Hunter and his two sons, Shilo and Shedeur Sanders.

"This is a bowl team now," Finebaum added. "I’m sure some of our friends up and down the hall where you live and work will have them in the playoffs tomorrow morning. They’re probably not going to be in the playoffs, but they have a very narrow path to at least take a swing."

Coach Prime has proved his doubters wrong, making Colorado one of the most exciting teams to watch this season.

Coach Prime praises Buffs on "wonderful game."

The 57-year-old coach couldn't have been prouder of his team’s statement victory over Arizona on Saturday, especially after a tough 31-28 loss to then No. 18 Kansas State Wildcats in week 7. Following the game, Sanders praised his team for delivering an all-around performance.

"Wonderful game, wonderful victory," Sanders said. “Offense, defense, collectively, both units played great. Shilo bounced back, had a pretty good game and did his thing. Shedeur is Shedeur. The offense was phenomenal.”

Coach Prime also mentioned the team’s solid rushing attack, boasting:

"I'm pretty sure it was over 100 [yards], which is good news."

On the topic of road success, Coach Prime attributed it to the Buffaloes’ close bond.

"We bond regardless of where we are," Sanders said.

The Buffs, now 5-2, have already the 4-8 mark they registered last season.
