PHOTO: Auburn HC Hugh Freeze enjoys fun-filled family vacation during CFB offseason

Hugh Freeze is enjoying his time away from college football's stressful ups and downs during the offseason. The Auburn Tigers coach is spending time with his wife, three daughters, two sons-in-law and one grandchild. Yes, that's about the whole extended family.

The football coach from Mississippi sported a striped T-shirt and white shorts while his wife, Jill Freeze, wore a muted-peach one-piece dress. Next to the Auburn coach's wife was their daughter, Ragan Freeze Reynolds, alongside her husband, Ryan Reynolds, and their little daughter.

Next in line was Madison Freeze, stunning in a white co-ord set. Then comes Jordan Freeze McManus with her husband, Mark McManus. Posting the family picture on Instagram, coach Freeze captioned:

"Been a minute since we’ve done a true family trip. So very blessed by this Freeze 5 group plus several additions. #Family."

Anonymous coach terms Hugh Freeze's QB as "average"

Auburn Tigers quarterback Payton Thorne transferred from Michigan State and had a rollercoaster first season under Hugh Freeze. Thorne threw 1,755 yards, 16 touchdowns and 10 interceptions in the 2023 season.

The Illinois-born quarterback was on the receiving end of some criticism from an anonymous coach who shared some blunt opinions with On3, directly linking Auburn's struggles to Thorne's performance.

Using the Tigers' 31-13 loss to Maryland as an example, where Thorne completed only 13 of 27 passes for 84 yards with one touchdown and one interception, the coach said:

“I saw Auburn in a bowl game and it was the least talented Auburn team I’ve seen in 50 years. Payton Thorne ain’t going to lead you to the promised land. He’s an average player.”

However, Hugh Freeze has full confidence in Thorne, as he didn’t shop for another quarterback in the transfer portal.

“I’m a believer in Payton,” Freeze said. “He has had his good and bad moments, but I do believe, with better pieces around him, he has the ability to be a great leader and a solid quarterback in this league.”
