PHOTO: Colorado QB Shedeur Sanders comes forward to attend assassinated rap star Young Dolph's sons's birthday
Shedeur Sanders is one of college football's biggest stars. But the Colorado Buffaloes quarterback is not just known for his on-field skills.
Shedeur is trying to break into the music industry as well, and has released a record that he performed at a Lil Wayne concert.
On Sunday, Shedeur Sanders attended the birthday party of the son of rapper Young Dolph. The latter was murdered in 2021 and had a friendship with Shedeur Sanders. A photo from the event was posted on social media:
When he was playing at Jackson State, Shedeur Sanders became friends with Young Dolph. The rapper was even invited into the Jackson State locker room after the program's homecoming victory in 2021.
Speaking about his friendship with Young Dolph, Shedeur told ESPN at the time:
“I had a good friendship with him. Me and him had a different kind of relationship. He really talked to me about life in general. We just clicked. I don’t think relationships are built over what you have in common, it’s the energy when you’re around them. It just felt natural.”
When Young Dolph was murdered, Shedeur wanted to pay tribute to his friend. For this, he had custom cleats made to honor the music and life and Young Dolph.
Sanders wore these cleats for Jackson State's game against Alcorn State, which is a rivalry game known as the Soul Bowl. Jackson State won the game 24-10, and Shedeur threw for 297 yards and scored three touchdowns.
This was a nice tribute to his late friend. His appearance at Young Dolph's son's birthday party shows that Shedeur is looking out for those around the rapper as well.
Can Shedeur Sanders lead the Colorado Buffaloes to success in 2024?
The 2024 season is slowly approaching, and Shedeur Sanders is getting ready to play what will be his final season in college football with the Colorado Buffaloes. Obviously, this season, too, would be under his father, Deion Sanders.
In the 2023 season, Sanders was a high point on what was a Buffaloes team that struggled for most of the season. He threw for 3,230 yards and scored 27 touchdowns, as a lack of reliable receivers and an underperforming defense gave Colorado a 4-8 record at the end of the season.
Shedeur Sanders will want a better season this year. Colorado has had a difficult off-season, with many players leaving the program via the transfer portal and many areas of the team being rebuilt from the ground up.
However, the team now seems set, and Shedeur can work with them to help propel the Buffaloes to success in the Big 12 conference. If he is able to do this, then he will be in the conversation over who will be the number one pick of the 2025 NFL draft.
