The stars were out for the No. 10 Michigan Wolverines' matchup against the No. 3 Texas Longhorns in Ann Arbor on September 7. Among the notable attendees was Dave Portnoy, founder and owner of the popular sports company Barstool Sports.
As a prominent Michigan fan, Portnoy shared a pregame picture with the Wolverines' cheerleaders on X (formerly Twitter) prior to kick off versus Texas. The image shows him standing with four cheerleaders on each side.
Portnoy founded Barstool Sports as a newspaper in 2003, before transitioning to a blog in 2007 and launching the Barstool Sports website.
Barstool Sports remains one of the top sports media companies in the world as of 2024.
Michigan suffers blowout loss to Texas in Week 2 clash
Unfortunately for Portnoy, he had to watch the Wolverines suffer a blowout loss at the hands of No. 3 Texas in their Week 2 matchup.
Texas downed the Wolverines 31-12 despite suffering several injuries throughout the game. Quinn Ewers led the way for the Longhorns, completing 24 of his 36 pass attempts for 246 yards and three touchdowns without an interception.
The Longhorns offensive line also cleared the way for 143 rushing yards and a score on 32 carries as a team.
The highlight of the game was the Texas defense, as the unit held the Wolverines to just 12 points and 80 rushing yards on 23 carries. The Longhorns' defense also forced three turnovers, making things difficult for the Wolverines quarterback Davis Warren, who threw two interceptions.
Michigan's star running back was also limited in the game, rushing for just 41 yards on eight carries.
Texas picked up their second win of the season in the highly anticipated matchup while the Wolverines fell to 1-1 entering their Week 3 contest versus Arkansas State.
