PHOTO: Oklahoma star Billy Bowman Jr. shares snap with fiancée Jayda Coleman on special occasion
Billy Bowman Jr. took to Instagram to share a snap with fiancée Jayda Coleman on a special occasion. The Oklahoma Sooners star marked National Girlfriend Day with the picture in his story. The couple can be seen posing for a selfie together while taking a flight.
The safety opted out of the 2024 NFL Draft to return for his final year of eligibility for the Sooners this year. He will lead coach Brent Venables’ defense to try to bring the national championship to Norman. But before the season starts, he didn't forget to give a tribute to his fiancée on a special day.
Here is the snap shared by Sooners star Bowman Jr. with Jayda Coleman on National Girlfriend Day.
Bowman and his fiancée met at the Oklahoma campus while pursuing their respective sport for the Sooners. Coleman is a part of the school's softball program, playing as an outfielder. The couple announced their engagement on New Year's Day this year and have been sharing snippets of their time together.
The couple's engagement came just weeks before the safety’s 21st birthday, and both occasions were marked by celebration together. Coleman shared a collage of snaps on Bowman’s birthday, giving the fans a sneak peek into the celebrations through her Instagram story. Similar snippets were also shared from the couple's engagement, showing all the decorations that Bowman had created for the big occasion.
Billy Bowman Jr. hopeful of getting the Jim Thorpe Award this time
Billy Bowman Jr. had a great season individually as a defensive back last season. He had six interceptions, three of which he returned for a touchdown. But that wasn't enough to get him on the podium for the annual Jim Thorpe Award. The Oklahoma star is looking to achieve that in the upcoming season.
"All I'm going to say is I'll have more this year," he said at the SEC Media Days event last month.
The Jim Thorpe Award is an annual honor given to the best defensive back in college football. Last year, it went to the Air Force Falcons safety Trey Taylor. The watchlists for the upcoming season have started coming out, and Bowman is on it. Maybe his final season in college football is the year when the Sooners safety gets his hands on the prestigious honor. Will he be able to achieve it?
