Deion Sanders' mom and No. 20-ranked Colorado Buffaloes superfan Miss Peggy shared a warm moment at lunch before the Buffaloes play Texas Tech on Saturday. Sanders' mom, Connie Sanders, has several reasons to be around the team as not only is her son the head coach, but her grandson Shedeur Sanders is the team's starting quarterback.
The Colorado Buffaloes (6-2, 4-1 Big 12) will travel to Texas to play the Texas Tech Red Raiders (6-3, 4-2) on Saturday in a crucial Big 12 matchup. So, it is no surprise that Peggy will be watching the game. Peggy Coppom, better known as Miss Peggy, is a massive fan of the Colorado Buffaloes and has been for most of her life. She is 99 years old.
Miss Peggy and Connie Sanders got together for lunch on Wednesday ahead of the game against Texas Tech. The two shared a warm moment where Peggy could be seen whispering something to Connie.
The Colorado Buffaloes honored Miss Peggy before the start of the season
Deion Sanders and the Colorado Buffaloes honored Peggy before the start of the season. They featured her on her sunglass sleeve as a tribute to her and her dedicated fandom. The sleeve was part of a historic NIL deal.
"For over 80 years, Miss Peggy’s unwavering support has embodied true fandom. In a historic first, Miss Peggy is the first fan to receive a NIL deal, with $1 from each sleeve sold going to her—a small gesture for her lifetime of dedication. Miss Peggy’s legacy inspires not just players but entire generations."
Many fans and players started to refer to her as the 'drip queen' in February when she accompanied a few members of the Buffaloes offensive line dressed in a CU bomber jacket from the Anthony Lawrence Collection. She wore the jacket along with a pair of Blender Prime shades for a promotional shoot.
Deion Sanders and Miss Peggy share a special bond
Peggy was one-half of the famed CU twins along with her sister Betty Hoover, but she passed away in 2020. She does what she can to keep her memory alive, as do supporters of CU Athletics and Deion Sanders.
Sanders and Peggy have become friends since he arrived as the head coach. She has only missed a few games since her family arrived in Colorado in 1939. In an attempt to reward her dedication, Deion Sanders vowed that the Buffaloes would return to a bowl game this year.
