PICS: Malaki Starks' fiancee Savanna drops warm photo dump from her engagement bash
Georgia defensive back Malaki Starks has taken his rich vein of form from last season into the current one. He helped the Bulldogs win the thrilling Week 8 game 30-15 against the Texas Longhorns in Austin, which put them back in the driving seat of the Southeastern Conference.
During the Bulldogs' bye week after the monumental win in Texas, Starks got engaged to his longtime girlfriend Savanna Jackson.
Jackson posted a series of pictures from the engagement, which took place on October 25, on Instagram. The setup had a bed of roses outlined by a line of candles, completed by a heart-shaped arch where the proposal happened.
She captioned the post:
"October 25 🖤💍 my person forever and ever and ever," Jackson wrote.
Starks also reposted pictures from the proposal on Instagram with the caption:
"Oct 25th -stamped. Beyond blessed to be on this journey with you forever and alwaysđź’Ťđź–¤," Malaki Starks wrote.
Malaki Starks and his fiancee Savanna utilized the college football offseason to go on a vacation in Puerto Rico which they documented on their Instagram stories. Over there, they relaxed before the rigors of the season began in earnest.
Malaki Starks stepped up to Georgia's leadership
Malaki Starks has been a starter in the Georgia Bulldogs' secondary ever since he was a freshman. He was a consensus All-American last season although he hurt his shoulder and had to have a surgery.
Despite the setback, he still opted to play in the Bulldogs' blowout 63-3 win over a decimated Florida State Seminoles in the Orange Bowl.
He revealed during a news conference why he played in a game that he could have opted out of due to his shoulder injury.
“I figured out before the Bama game that I needed surgery,” Starks said. “There was still a game to play. Just because it wasn’t the game we wanted to play or whatever the case may be, I just wouldn’t have wanted to sit out.
"My whole goal before I got to college, because it wasn’t a thing when I got here, my whole goal was to get developed and go to the league. I keep that the main thing.”
While the Georgia Bulldogs might have re-established themselves as favorites for the Southeastern Conference championship game, they still have difficult games coming up.
They go up against the No. 19 Ole Miss Rebels and the No. 7 Tennessee Volunteers and Malaki Starks will likely be key for coach Kirby Smart's team.
