Will Hudson Card continue to start for Purdue in Week 5?
With a whole week to rest, Hudson Card is expected to start for the Boilermakers on Saturday.
Card joined Purdue in 2023 after spending three seasons with the Longhorns. In his first season with Purdue, he passed for 2,387 yards, 15 touchdowns and eight interceptions. He wasn't protected enough, with him being sacked 21 times.
Hudson Card's performance in first three games of 2024 season
In Week 1's 49-0 blowout win over Indiana State, Hudson Card threw for 273 yards and four touchdowns on 24-of-25 pass attempts. In his second game, a 66-7 loss to Notre Dame, Card passed for 124 yards, one touchdown and two interceptions on 11 of 24 attempts.
During last week's 38-21 loss against Oregon State, Hudson Card registered his worst performance of the season, throwing for just 56 yards, one touchdown and two interceptions on 7 of 17 pass attempts.
“On offense, we’ve got to do things that our guys are comfortable with, and our guys that need touches, give them touches,” coach Ryan Walters said. "We've got to do things that allow our quarterback to play well. He's a talented individual, and that talent's going to show up on game day.”
Card is fueled after last week's loss and looks forward to bounceback.
“In a season, you're going to get hit with adversity — injury, losses — and it's how you bounce back from that,” Card said. "We have guys that are going to step up in that room. For me, at the end of the day, I'm just going to go through my reads, and the defense will tell me where to go with the ball no matter who's out there.”
