Quinn Ewers injured: What happened to Texas QB?

The Texas Longhorns are dominating against the UTSA Roadrunners but things are not sunny right now at DKR Memorial Stadium. Starting quarterback and Heisman Trophy candidate Quinn Ewers suffered an abdomen strain after completing a handoff and was not touched on the play.

After the Texas medical staff helped him off the field and to the medical tent, he looked visibly frustrated and was seen putting his head inside of his jersey as he entered the tent.

This is a developing story. The Texas Longhorns have not officially announced the recovery time or if he will be able to return to the game. More details on this matter are expected during the post-game press conference.

Quinn Ewers' injury happens to be a massive blow for the Texas Longhorns

While this Quinn Ewers injury is disappointing with how well he looked during the Week 3 face-off, fans can expect him to be back if the medical setback is not of a serious nature. He is the same quarterback who led the Longhorns to the College Football Playoff last season and was one play away from being in the national championship game.

This is the third consecutive season that Quinn Ewers has been injured. The previous two years forced him to miss multiple games. Although Arch Manning stands strong as a perfect backup in case of medical setbacks, Ewers' experience will play a crucial role in their championship aspirations this year.

No doubt, the second-ranked program entering Week 3 could see a massive shift in how the team looks for the remainder of the season.

Quinn Ewers was seen heading back to the locker room and likely will be ruled out for the remainder of the game, but if it is a season-ending injury, which some non-contact injuries indicate, this would be as big of a blow for the program. Fans would hope that the injury is not similar to running back CJ Baxter, who is already out for the remainder of the 2024 season.
