Quinn Ewers issues 2-word message to Matthew McConaughey after receiving "huge praise" from the Hollywood sensation

Quinn Ewers and the No. 5 Texas Longhorns took care of business Saturday against the Florida Gators, routing them 49-17. Ewers had arguably his best statistical outing of the season with 333 passing yards, five passing touchdowns, and no interceptions.

It was a performance that put everyone on notice and resolidified Texas' spot near the top of the SEC.

One person in particular was impressed with the performance. star actor and Texas alum Matthew McConaughey greeted Ewers after his performance to show appreciation for what he's done for the program.

Ewers sent to social media to return the appreciation.

Texas Ties

McConaughey has been a constant presence in the Longhorns athletics community for years, making appearances at both football and basketball games. With Texas football at one of its highest peaks in years, he has been a fixture on the sidelines. He made an expected appearance at the Oklahoma-Texas game earlier in the year alongside ascending music artist Leon Bridges.

Ewers' 333 passing yards is a season high, the first time he's gone over the 300-yard mark all season. His five touchdowns are also a season high - he's thrown for three on three occasions this year.

Ewers has had some individual ups and downs this season despite the team's consistent success. But today's performance will pump the breaks on some doubters.

"It does a lot for the confidence, for sure," Ewers said. "Going out there and executing the way that we did as a whole, who wouldn't be confident after that performance from the whole offense?"

The passing attack, as usual, was balanced with four different Longhorns catching touchdowns from Ewers. Wide receiver Matthew Golden caught two, while wide receiver Quintrevion Wisner, wide receiver Isaiah Bond, and tight end Gunnar Helm caught one. Running back Jaydon Blue didn't have a touchdown, but led all players in receiving yards at 67 while also providing 60 rushing yards.

Texas has Arkansas on the schedule next. The Razorbacks most recently lost to the Ole Miss Rebels 63-31.
