Quinn Ewers joins forces with Matthew McConaughey to give away $100k to young athletes for a special cause
Texas quarterback Quinn Ewers joined forces with actor Matthew McConaughey to give away $100,000 to young athletes to help them with certain sports accessories.
Ewers announced the giveaway in a video on his Instagram story, in which he was at a Dick's Sporting Goods store in Austin.
"@officiallymcconaughey and I teamed up to turn @dickssportinggoods into a longhorn's winter wonderland and it won us a $100K Sports Matter Grant! Come check it out 🤘 #DKSpartner #ad," Ewers wrote on the video of his IG story.
In November, Texas native icon McConaughey lent a hand with the physical, festive installations in Dick's Sporting Goods stores throughout the holiday season. He joined some of the top celebrities and athletes from the state in decorating the local stores.
Ewers, who transferred to Texas in 2022 after one season with Ohio State, now wants to give back to the community after three seasons with the Longhorns. Per reports, Ewers has an NIL value worth $2.4 million, per On3.
Texas Longhorns QB Quinn Ewers' future plans
Last week, reports claimed that Quinn Ewers expects to declare for the 2025 NFL Draft. The senior's departure is likely to pave the way for Arch Manning to lead Texas' offense next season.
On Monday, Ewers was asked about his future in college football and whether he was declaring for the 2025 NFL Draft. The Texas quarterback said he still needs to make a final decision on his future.
"I’m not sure yet,” Ewers told reporters about his draft decision. “I’m just trying to win these games. I haven’t thought about anything beyond that.”
Ewers still has one year of college eligibility remaining, which means he could return for the 2025 college football season.
While Ewers' future is still uncertain, he remains fully focused on helping Texas in the College Football Playoff. No. 5 Texas will play Clemson in the first round of the playoffs on Saturday and Ewers is expected to lead the Longhorns offense.
