Raiders reporter joins the dots, claims Coach Prime hinted at Tom Brady-Shedeur Sanders team up
With the college football season heating up, many in the NFL have an eye on Colorado QB Shedeur Sanders. At least one NFL reporter sees the Las Vegas Raiders in Sanders' near future.
Mitchell Renz of Raiders Report connected recent comments from Shedeur's father, Colorado coach Deion Sanders, and evidence from the NFL to forecast Shedeur's landing spot.
"Deion Sanders wants Shedeur Sanders to be a Las Vegas Raider," Renz said. "Here's what he said [about a landing spot], ' Somebody that can handle the quarterback that Shedeur is.... Somebody that can handle the understanding of what he's capable of.
"Somebody that has had success is the past handling quarterbacks or somebody in an organization that understands what they are doing, not just throwing you out there amongst the wolves and you don't have the support and infastructure of the team.'
"If you have listened to what Tom Brady has said about taking his time with quarterbacks and not throwing them out there to the wolves, it's exactly what Deion just reiterated there. I am a believer that Shedeur is going to be the next Raiders quarterback.'--
Sanders has been an outstanding passer this season for the Buffs, who are hanging around the fringes of the CFP selection field. Shedeur has completed 72.9% of his passes for 2,882 yards and 24 touchdowns.
With Colorado 7-2, many are seeing Sanders as one of the top picks in the upcoming 2025 NFL Draft. He's up there with Miami's Cam Ward among the top QB prospects in the upcoming draft. While Sanders has not explicitly declared for the NFL Draft, it would be shocking if he did not ultimately do so.
Would Shedeur Sanders be a good fit at the Raiders?
Las Vegas certainly has an apparent vacancy at quarterback. The Raiders have the seventh-worst QB rating among NFL teams. They've given most of the snaps to veterans Gardner Minshew and Aidan O'Connell. Young Desmond Ridder, who started for the Falcons last year, has also seen a few snaps.
Certainly, there's nobody at the QB position who would prevent the Raiders from going after Sanders. He'd be a substantial upgrade over any of the current possibilities they are utilizing at the position.
Tom Brady is a minority owner with the team and many are speculating that Brady will end up serving as general manager for the franchise. Of course, Brady was arguably the best NFL quarterback ever, and his ability to work with young QBs could make Las Vegas something of an NFL QB destination.
