Robert Griffin III has “found” a new job after getting fired from ESPN
Robert Griffin III, the former NFL quarterback turned ESPN analyst, isn't wasting any time moving on after being fired from the sports network. Griffin, known for his casual and charismatic personality, recently took to X (formerly Twitter) with a playful post.
RGIII shared a photo of a carpet and fine floors signboard and paired it with the caption:
"Found my new job"
The decision to part ways with Griffin is part of ESPN's broader cost-cutting measures as the network approaches the end of its fiscal year. According to The Athletic, Griffin’s seven-figure salary was a major factor in the decision despite him still having two years left on his contract.
The move follows ESPN’s earlier removal of Griffin as a host on Monday Night Football, where he was replaced by Jason Kelce, but continued with his role as a college football analyst within the network.
Griffin joined ESPN in 2021 and became a fan favorite right away, doing both college football coverage and Monday Night Football. Griffin’s co-host, Samantha Ponder, was also let go by the sports media giant. She used to host the “Sunday NFL Countdown” show and was in the last year of her $3-million plus contract.

Robert Griffin III takes dig at ESPN after getting fired
RGIII isn’t holding back after being fired from ESPN. Staying true to his ‘on-screen’ nature, the former NFL QB’s response is making quite the buzz.
The ESPN analyst, who was let go on Thursday, shared a clip from the 1995 movie “Friday” on his X account. The clip featured John Witherspoon’s character chastising his son, played by Ice Cube, for getting fired on his day off.
“How the hell you gonna get fired on your day off?,” Witherspoon asks. Ice Cube hilariously replies, “I don’t know.”
Griffin’s post seems to be a playful dig at ESPN after his abrupt dismissal. He had two years left on his contract and was once considered a contender for ESPN’s No. 2 college football game analyst spot after Sean McDonough.
Now, with his ESPN chapter closed, the sports world is eagerly watching to see what Griffin’s next move will be.
