SEC Commish Greg Sankey on Oklahoma & Texas joining the FBS powerhouse amid latest wave of conference realignment

The Texas Longhorns and the Oklahoma Sooners are getting prepared to join the SEC officially on July 1, and there is a lot of excitement throughout college sports. While conference realignment this offseason has been a bit more subdued, this is something that will be a significant change to the world of college athletics.

While making a guest appearance on The Paul Finebaum Show, SEC Commissioner Greg Sankey discussed the excitement that officially adding the Oklahoma Sooners and the Texas Longhorns brings.

"Having had the chance to see Oklahoma's president last week and talk about the excitement.

"I talked to (Texas Longhorns Athletic Director) Chris Del Conte today of their plans. Then to see the social media reaction to the logo being painted on the field at Austin and in Norman in advance of the football season is pretty cool and rewarding."

This is going to be the third time the SEC officially is expanding. The conference added the Arkansas Razorbacks and South Carolina Gamecocks in 1992, and 20 years later, added the Missouri Tigers and the Texas A&M Aggies.

This will be an intriguing process to see if Greg Sankey and the conference can continue to be viewed as the premier conference in college athletics.
