"She ripped me apart" - Aaron Rodgers once shared exciting story about how he proved his Cal teacher wrong
After playing a season with Butte College, Aaron Rodgers transferred to the California Golden Bears football program in 2003. Rodgers had a good college career, earning a first-team All-Pac-10 selection. But one of his former teachers thought the quarterback wouldn't amount to anything.
During an appearance on Joe Rogan's podcast in Feb. 2024, A-Rod revealed an interesting anecdote during his time at Cal. He recalled how one of his teachers thought little of him. Little did the teacher know, Rodgers would become one of the best quarterbacks in NFL history.
"I had this teacher at Cal. I wrote a paper, and she said I cited incorrectly. Fifteen of the kids didn't cite it exactly how she wanted. Fourteen of them got to rewrite the paper — not me. So I said, okay, I'm going to see her during office hours. I went to her office, and she was ready for me. She had my paper out. I said, the other fourteen kids got an F on the paper but got to rewrite it, and I didn't," Rodgers said.
"She ripped me apart. She said, 'You are an entitled athlete. You expect things to be given to you. What are you going to do with your life?' I said, 'I'm going to play in the NFL.' She said, 'No way in hell. From what I've seen, you won't amount to anything.' And I said, 'Watch me.'"
Former Cal quarterback Aaron Rodgers registers first win as a Jet
Before the start of the 2023 season, the New York Jets had huge expectations from the veteran quarterback they acquired from the Green Bay Packers. To their disappointment, there were few minutes in the game, and Aaron Rodgers' season was over due to an Achilles injury.
Recovering from the injury, Rodgers returned this season after missing practice camp. He took a loss in his first game against Super Bowl contenders San Francisco 49ers. The quarterback earned his first victory in the Jets thread On Sunday. He led his team to a 24-17 come-from-behind win against the Tennessee Titans.
Aaron Rodgers threw 18-of-30 passes for 176 yards and two touchdowns. The Titans were up 10-7 at halftime but the prime A-Rod flashed in the third quarter, where the Jets scored 10. Finally, a 20-yard touchdown run by Braelon Allen sealed the deal for the Jets, who earned their first victory this season.
