Shedeur Sanders envisions "legendary" legacy alongside Coach Prime's "new son" JuJu Lewis

Shedeur Sanders is the undisputed quarterback at Colorado until he leaves for the NFL in 2025. However, part of the media is already thinking of the future. On Wednesday's Big 12 media day, the Buffs quarterback was asked what the relationship between the new signal-caller JuJu Lewis and Deion Sanders could be like.

“He’ll be like his (Deion Sander's) new son," Shedeur said.

Shedeur Sanders indicated that the future quarterback of the Boulder school should be JuJu Lewis. He was also asked what he wanted his legacy at Colorado to be, to which he simply answered:

"Legendary"

Colorado is joining the Big 12 after a 4-8 overall record last season in the Pac-12. 2023 was also the first of the Buffs under Deion Sanders and with Shedeur Sanders at quarterback. The objective remains clear in 2024: walk the talk and get a bowl-eligible season.

Shedeur Sanders compares Colorado Buffaloes' games to the "Super Bowl"

Shedeur Sanders compared the Buffs' games to the Super Bowl. Due to his father's star persona, Colorado draws the attention of the nation. Here's what he told reporters on Wednesday about it:

"I know we're everybody's Super Bowl, so I really just always stay level-headed and grounded because I would never want to be that guy who looks back and wasn't able to take advantage of the moment that we have right now," Sanders said.

In 2023, Buffaloes games averaged 8.83 million viewers across Fox, ESPN, and ABC. That's 10x more than their 2022 numbers (847,000).

However, the program has suffered two straight losing seasons, with the record in 2022 being 1-11 and in 2023 being 4-8. They hope to get a winning record in 2024.

Deion Sanders on what lies ahead for Colorado in 2024

Shedeur's father, Deion Sanders, also spoke with the media on Wednesday, showing confidence in the road ahead for the Colorado Buffaloes.

"Look at where we are, you've got to be kidding me. I'm a brother from Fort Myers, Florida, and I'm sitting in the darned end zone in Las Vegas talking to the whole darned country about a childish game that I played. Don't you understand how powerful and wonderful it is? I'm so darned thankful to be here," Sanders said.
"I see the want and the fire and desire from our young men, and I can't wait until you get the opportunity to see it as well. I'm very optimistic on what we have on our plate this year," he added.

The Buffs open up the season on August 29 against North Dakota State and will face their first Big 12 rival on September 21 when they clash with Baylor. Both games will be played at Folsom Field in Boulder, Colorado.
