Shedeur Sanders NFL draft projection: 3 teams likely in contention for Colorado QB ft. Las Vegas Raiders

Colorado quarterback Shedeur Sanders is making waves in the college football scene. Going into the 2024 season, he’s not only viewed as a Heisman Trophy contender but also a strong prospect for the top pick in the 2025 NFL draft.

He has an impressive On3 NIL valuation of $4.7 million, thanks to the buzz around the Buffaloes, led by his father, Pro Football Hall of Famer Deion Sanders. Here’s a look at three teams that could make a play for him: the Las Vegas Raiders, the New York Jets and the New York Giants.

The Raiders stand out as a potential landing spot for Sanders. They have talented playmakers like Samir White and Jakobi Meyers, along with newly drafted tight end Brock Bowers. However, their quarterback situation remains a concern.

ESPN has labeled them the most quarterback-needy team entering the season. With a new general manager, Tom Telesco, and coach, Antonio Pierce, the team may prioritize securing a franchise QB in the 2025 draft.

After missing out on top prospects in 2024, the Raiders could be eager to fill that void with Sanders if he continues to impress.

Last month, NFL legend Tom Brady was spotted at the Raiders facility with owner Mark Davis, following his recent investment as a minority owner in the team.

With Brady now part of the Raiders’ leadership, rumors are swirling: Could he be eyeing Bill Belichick for the coach role? And will he look to draft rising star Shedeur Sanders?

CBS Sports projects Sanders as a first-round pick, potentially going 23rd overall to the Jets. This would make him the third quarterback off the board after Carson Beck and Quinn Ewers.

While Aaron Rodgers is still with the Jets, his time may be limited, and the team lacks a clear successor. Sanders could be the long-term answer, giving the Jets stability at the position.

The Colorado Buffaloes' quarterback has also caught the attention of scouts from the Tennessee Titans and Buffalo Bills, among others.

In a mock draft by The 33rd Team, Sanders is predicted to go first overall to the Giants. While it’s uncertain if the Giants will secure the top pick, they could move up if Daniel Jones fails to deliver.

Sanders is a strong pocket passer who could help elevate the Giants’ offense. He’s shown impressive production this season but would benefit from quicker decision-making and better pocket awareness.

Giants assistant general manager Brandon Brown had attended Colorado's football practice last month to watch Sanders in action. The NYG front office has been actively scouting quarterbacks, anticipating a top pick in the upcoming draft.

Shedeur Sanders’ season update and upcoming game

So far in 2024, Shedeur Sanders has thrown for 2,591 yards with 21 touchdowns, six interceptions and a QBR of 74.2 (ranked 28th).

Colorado, with a 6-2 record, faces Texas Tech (6-3) this Saturday at 4 p.m. ET on Fox, looking to keep its championship dreams alive.
