Shedeur Sanders sacks last night: How many hits did Colorado QB take?
Shedeur Sanders' team, the Colorado Buffaloes, suffered a big 28-10 loss against their long-time rivals, the Nebraska Cornhuskers. The Buffs offense collapsed in the first quarter after giving away 14 points and never recovered.
The Buffaloes QB had a tough Saturday night as he not only witnessed his team's first loss of the season but was also intercepted and sacked many times throughout the game.
The Huskers sacked Sanders six times, out of which four came in the first half. To make matters worse, Nebraska defensive back Tommi Hill intercepted Sanders in the first quarter and returned for a seven-yard touchdown. Following the interception, Nebraska was 14 points ahead and added as many points in the next quarter.
Sanders and the Buffs came out stronger in the second half as their kicker Alejandro Mata successfully scored a 27-yard field goal. In the last quarter, Sanders scored a five-yard touchdown pass to LaJohntay Wester, but it wasn't enough to take the game away from the Cornhuskers.
Sanders completed 23 of 38 passes for 244 yards, one touchdown and an interception. On the other hand, his arch-rival, quarterback Dylan Raiola, impressed everyone after he completed 23 of 30 passes in 185 yards and one touchdown.
Shedeur Sanders leaves game in final minutes
With just nine minutes left in the fourth quarter, Shedeur Sanders suffered a big blow to his head by Nebraska linebacker Mikai Gbayor. As a precaution, he left the field and was replaced by backup QB Ryan Staub.
After the game, Sanders told the media about his last-minute exit from the game, saying he was a little hurt but fine now. Deion Sanders, in the post-game presser, also talked about the situation and said:
"You know, I'm trying to be polite and say it, because you know I can say the same thing you're thinking, but if I say it, you'd say I'm throwing my guys up under the bus. I'm not doing that whatsoever. Protections were a problem. We gotta figure out a way to prevent that and do a better job with that."
Deion Sanders took the reins of the Colorado Buffaloes after the team went 1-11 in its 2022 season. In the 2023 season, they performed better under Coach Prime's guidance, finishing 4-8. The Buffs, however, were expected to make a strong comeback this season, but with their loss against Nebraska, many questions are being raised about the team's planning for the current season.
