Shedeur Sanders stats today: How did the Colorado star perform against Utah?

Shedeur Sanders and the Colorado Buffaloes overcame a shaky start in their Saturday game against the Utah Utes and went on to win the game, 49-24. While Sanders started the game with an interception in the opening drive, he came back with his first touchdown pass of the game in his following drive, and from then on Colorado never gave up the lead.

The quarterback finished the game for 340 yards, with three touchdown passes and one interception against the Utes. He completed 30 of 41 pass attempts for an impressive 73.1% completion percentage.

Sanders also had -9 yards rushing in seven carries, was sacked three times and lost a fumble.

This week, Sanders didn't connect much with his favorite target, Travis Hunter, who only caught five passes for 55 yards. Instead, Drelon Miller and Will Sheppard were his most productive receivers against the Utes.

Miller caught six passes for 108 yards, with one touchdown, while Sheppard had five receptions for 71 yards, with two touchdowns. His most used receiver was actually LaJohntay Wester who had 10 catches, for 77 yards but had no touchdown receptions.

Another positive point was the team's ability to protect him, with him only being sacked three times. While that is far from perfect, it's a marked improvement from last year for Colorado.

After Saturday's game against Utah, Sanders has now thrown for 3,222 yards, with 27 touchdowns and only seven interceptions this season. Heading into the game, his QBR was a respectable, but not too bright, 75.2. That ranked him 23rd among quarterbacks in the country before Week 12.

While has thrown more interceptions than he did in the entirety of the 2023 season (7 vs. 3), he seems on pace to surpass his yardage and total touchdowns from last year. Those would be FBS career-high numbers for him. He threw for 3230 yards, with 27 touchdowns in 2023. His completion percentage has also seen a marked improvement from last year, going from 69.3% to 72.9% so far.
