"Should absolutely get an exception": CFB world speak up in favor of Mike Leach’s induction into the CFB Hall of Fame

There has been a growing chorus of college football fans and coaches demanding that Mike Leach be in the CFB Hall of Fame. The legendary head coach, infamously nicknamed 'The Pirate', passed away in 2022 after a heart attack.

During his career, Leach was the head coach of the Texas A&M Aggies, Washington State Cougars, and the Mississippi State Bulldogs. Leach is the winningest coach in the history of the Aggies and has the third most wins at Washington State.

His record at the end of his career was 158 wins and 107 losses, which put him at a win percentage of 59.6.

However, this means that he technically can not be given a place in the CFP Hall of Fame, as a spot is given to coaches who have a win percentage of 60% or more. This has annoyed many of those involved in college football, but how have college football fans reacted to this on social media?

These fans believe that Mike Leach deserves a special exception to this rule, as he was only 0.4% off being eligible.

"The mastermind of the Air Raid should absolutely get an exception here 🏴‍☠️" wrote this fan.
"Round that UP! Get coach in! 59.6 is 60% in my books lol" said another fan.
"Just round up," said a third fan.
"Just do what my 3rd grade math teacher taught me, anything .5 or greater….round up. So 59.6 becomes 60.0! Problem solved & solved in a fair way. RIP Mike Leach, we got you 💯," wrote this fan.

These fans think that Mike Leach should have a place in the CFB Hall of Fame based on what he did in his coaching career.

"Why is he not in the hall of fame, he revolutionized college football man, put him in!" wrote this fan.
"Put coach Leach in the HOF. He was a great coach and a lot of fun to listen to," said this fan.

While many fans want Mike Leach in the CFB Hall of Fame, some believe that as he did not meet the required win percentage, he should not be allowed. Others question the idea of letting Leach in, as it will set a precedent for other coaches who narrowly missed out.

"I missed winning the lottery three times by a single digit, damn," said this fan, comparing the .4% Leach needed to one missing lottery number
"Looks like he missed it by .4. Close but no cigar," wrote this fan
"Then Howard Schnellenberger should be in as well," suggested this fan.
