TCU vs. Baylor: Box score, stats, game summary and more ft. Josh Hoover

Baylor used a walk-off field goal to post a win over a TCU team that is scrapping for its post season life, 37-34.

The Horned Frogs (5-4, 3-3) had the chance to secure bowl eligibility with a road win. Sophomore QB Josh Hoover has been outstanding for the Horned Frogs, who were off a 35-34 win over Texas Tech last week, but came up shy on a last second field goal.

Meanwhile, Baylor (5-4, 3-3) was a 2.5 point home favorite in an effort to break above .500 on the season. The Bears play on the road in their next two games, so needing only one more win could be pivotal to the post-season chances.

This game was as competitive as the records and odds line would suggest, as neither team led by more than one score. In the first half, a Josh Hoover TD pass and a TD run battled a pair of Bryson Washington scoring runs. A TCU field goal was the difference in a 17-13 halftime edge.

Baylor rallied to tie it on a short run, but then a halfback pass gave TCU the lead at the end of the third quarter. Washington answered with his third scoring run to re-tie the count at 27-27. Washington’s fourth score gave Baylor a lead, but TCU answered just after the two minute timeout.

Kicker Isaiah Hankins, who had missed an extra point earlier, connected on a 33-yard field goal for the win.

TCU hosts Oklahoma State next week, with another home game against Arizona slated for the following week. Baylor has a week off and will then travel to West Virginia.
