“Tell the Raiders I’m chilling”: Colorado QB Shedeur Sanders keeps his calm while performing in front of NFL scouts
It appears that Shedeur Sanders doesn't quite have his mind set on the NFL yet. On Monday, a video surfaced from the Colorado Buffaloes training camp in Boulder, featuring the quarterback conversing with a scout from the Las Vegas Raiders. There has been widespread speculation that Shedeur will enter the pros after the 2024 season and is expected to be a top-five pick in the 2025 NFL Draft.
However, it seems all this isn't on the quarterback's mind. At one point, he approached the scout and whispered to him:
"Tell the Raider’s I’m chilling"
It remains to be seen if the Buffaloes can match their perennial hype in this upcoming season, as they transition into the Big 12.
NFL Executive on what drafting Shedeur Sanders means for a franchise
According to an unnamed NFC executive, the draft stock of Shedeur Sanders is directly linked to his father's persona. It is no secret that Deion Sanders has a bigger-than-life personality, and that's something any NFL team that decides to go for Shedeur would have to deal with.
According to ESPN's Jordan Reid, here's what the executive said about the subject:
"Deion has been the kid's coach all of his life. Everyone knows that he's running that show, and that's not going to change moving forward.."
"You're not only drafting Shedeur, you're drafting the family as well, and there will be varying opinions about that."
It will be interesting to see what level of influence Deion Sanders will have over his son's playing career once he makes the jump into the NFL. It would be a situation not seen before, as no other father of an NFL quarterback has had such a big public persona. On the other hand, few teams' marketing teams would want to pass over the Sanders family package.
