Texas insider credits Quinn Ewers for 1 thing despite difficult game against Arkansas

Quinn Ewers and the Texas Longhorns got the better of the Arkansas Razorbacks on Saturday afternoon, although not by much. The game ended 20-10 for the Austin school, while the Fayetteville hopefuls were certainly left feeling they could've taken advantage of Ewers' low-yardage effort.

Texas' signal-caller had the lowest yardage game of his season, throwing for just 176 yards and two touchdowns. While the performance wasn't explosive, like his five-touchdown, 333-yard masterclass against Florida in Week 11, Ewers was praised for his reliability as a passer.

On3's Texas insider CJ Vogel had this to say about the player's performance:

"One thing Quinn Ewers deserves the utmost credit for is zero turnovers on the road in a tough environment.
"No fumbles. No interceptions. And rarely was a pass on Saturday in a position to be played by a defender at all."

Texas coach Steve Sarkisian also praises Quinn Ewers' reliability

Possibly the person whose opinion about performances Quinn Ewers cares the most about is Steve Sarkisian. Luckily for him, Sarkisian's opinion of his outing against the Hogs was rather positive.

"When you just don’t have as many opportunities, you’ve got to try to maximize them when you get them,” Sarkisian said. “Him taking care of the football, converting on third downs, and what a play ... on fourth down to kind of seal the game. I was proud of him for that."

Ewers completed 20 of 32 passes against Arkansas, which made for a solid 62.5% completion percentage.

Quinn Ewers numbers in 2024 season

Quinn Ewers has recorded 1,898 passing yards, 21 touchdowns and six interceptions so far this season. That gives him a 70.8 QBR which ranks 34th in the nation among signal callers.

He started the season with Heisman hopes, but a mid-season injury scrapped those. He doesn't seem on track to break his previous year's career-high yardage (3,479). However, he's just one touchdown away from his 2023 career high of 22.
