247 Sports confirms hack after shocking false report on Quinn Ewers opting out for NFL draft
Texas Longhorns starting quarterback Quinn Ewers has been in the news on Monday, but not of his doing. There was a report that 247Sports posted a picture saying that he was opting to sit out the remainder of the college football season and instead focus on the 2025 NFL draft.
However, 247Sports posted a statement refuting that post.
"The 247Sports instagram account was hacked earlier today with a fabricated report on Quinn Ewers. We regret any negative impact."
Quinn Ewers was benched in the first half of Saturday's game against the Georgia Bulldogs for backup quarterback Arch Manning after struggling. Ewers eventually went back into the game and finished 25 of 43 for 211 yards with a pair of touchdown passes and an interception.
Will Quinn Ewers bounce back after a brutal game against the Georgia Bulldogs?
The fifth-ranked Texas Longhorns have been one of college football's top programs this season, entering the game against then-No. 5 Georgia as the top-ranked team. However, Quinn Ewers has been struggling as of late, throwing for an interception in each of his last four games. Despite the recent struggles, there's tape of Ewers doing well to the point that it should be expected that he will have a great season and play a lot better.
The Georgia Bulldogs have one of the nation's toughest defenses, headed by coach Kirby Smart. Ewers has a chance to bounce back on Saturday at the Vanderbilt Commodores, but facing adversity early could strengthen the team for the remainder of the regular season.
This Longhorns offense still is 16th in the nation with 295.7 passing yards per game and 15th in scoring at 40.6 points per game, so they can still dominate on this side of the football. Texas is going to figure things out, and it understands that it can't rest on its laurels to win the national championship this season.
They have the offensive game plan to continue improving and the quarterback room to do just that as well.
