Texas State vs Arizona State Game Summary
Arizona State drew first blood after they forced Texas State to punt in the opening drive of the game and then went on to drive 68 yards and a scoring rush from Cam Skattebo to take a 7-0 lead in the game.
Not long after, Texas State answered back with a touchdown of its own as Jordan McCloud threw a pass for Chris Dawn Jr. to score.
This is when Arizona State started to deteriorate for a while, as after failing in their drive they allowed another passing touchdown from McCloud for their first lead in the game.
Texas State piled up more points to their lead as a 19-yard touchdown pass resulted in a 21-7 lead on ASU. Sam Leavitt wasn't just going to sit behind with so much time left in the clock in the second quarter.
Leavitt threw a 52-yard touchdown pass to Jordyn Tyson as he cut the deficit to 21-14. After another quick stop, Leavitt went for the red zone himself for a seven-yard rushing touchdown to tie the game 21-21.
After good defensive plays from both teams to start the third quarter, Jordan McCloud found Jaden Williams in the red zone for his fourth touchdown in the game. Like the story has been all game, Arizona State made a comeback with a two-yard rushing score from Cam Skattebo, his second of the night.
A fumble by Texas State RB Ismail Mahdi gave Arizona State an edge, as they may not have reached the end zone but a 22-yard field goal attempt from Ian Hershey gave them a three-point cushion with 6:32 remaining on the clock. The Arizona State defended their three-point lead, taking a 31-28 win.
