"That's insane" - Coach Prime's daughter Deiondra Sanders left irritated after being stopped by Colorado's officers
Colorado coach Deion Sander's daughter Deiondra Sanders has been hanging around Boulder as her father has led the Buffaloes to bowl eligibility for the first time in eight years. Deiondra has posted several clips of herself at the Buffs' training facilities hanging out with her brothers, Deion Sanders Jr., Shilo and Shedeur Sanders.
In a clip posted on her YouTube channel on Monday, Deiondra detailed how strict Colorado's security was with her by asking her for her visitor's pass despite her being the coach's daughter.
"Don't get me wrong. Anybody can come up here and say that but it's one car and we already told you we was leaving, like that's insane. It's like I'm glad they're strict but damn!"
When Deiondra Sanders caused controversy
When Sanders left the Jackson State Tigers in 2022, he had a 27-5 record including two consecutive Southwestern Athletic Conference titles. Some college football fans were not happy about him leaving a HBCU institution for Colorado.
His daughter further stoked the fires with an interview on the "Ballers Alert" podcast by describing the conditions on the Jackson State campus during her father's tenure there as coach.
"People don't know that there are killings on the (Jackson State) campus every few months," Deiondra Sanders said. "Yeah, they don't know that. They are breaking into the locker rooms and stealing from the students. It is kind of like my dad giving back to the community, but what is the community giving back to my dad? He doesn't feel safe there.
Deiondra further suggested that her father did not feel safe in Jackson State and hinted at it being a reason behind Coach Prime's departure for Boulder.
"I don't know what he felt," Deiondra said. "I am just saying I would not have felt safe there. I don't know what my dad felt. I would feel safe on campus, but the stuff I would see and hear ... my dad gave a lot to Jackson for him to be doing stuff like that. What more could he have done? He did all that he said he would."
Although Sanders later retracted her statement on the Jackson State issue in a post on X (formerly Twitter), the damage had been done and the matter caused controversy among college football fans at the time.
