“That’s that Victory formation”: Oklahoma football players beam with pride as former QB Dillon Gabriel gets engaged
Dillon Gabriel delivered a reason to celebrate in advance for the Oregon Ducks, who are hyped up for their rivalry game against the Oregon State Beavers on Saturday. The social media fiesta began as the Ducks quarterback popped the question to his longtime girlfriend, Zo Caswell, sharing the news via Instagram.
Amongst many reactions, the Sooners stole the show, pouring love for their former teammate on his big day.
"That's that Victory formation," wide receiver Nic Anderson wrote.
"Yessir DG congratualtions brotha," Oklahoma linebacker Danny Stutsman wrote.
"You brought out da red bottoms," Tawee Walker, who previously played for the Sooners, said.
"Too Shottaaaaaa," Sooners defensive liner Isaiah Coe said.
"Congrats DG!" Jalen Redmond wrote.
A comment that stood out was from the South Carolina quarterback Davis Beville, who didn't forget to hype up his former Sooners teammate with a comment that read:
"About damn time!!!" while also resharing the post on his story with a caption filled with emojis.
Dillon Gabriel and Zo Caswell had their picture-perfect moment at a riverside setting in Eugene on September 1. Their evident love filled the pictures as the two hugged, and Zo showed off her oval-cut diamond ring in the shots.
The new Ducks quarterback is already making his team proud on the field, registering two wins against Idaho Vandals and Boise State Broncos right at the start of the 2024 season. He has managed to put up great numbers with 623 yards and four touchdowns and clearly isn't afraid to take charge of his personal life, either.
How did Dillon Gabriel and Zo Caswell Meet?
The former Sooners QB met his fiancée, Zo Caswell, in middle school. The two have been in a relationship since then, with Caswell remaining by Gabriel's side as his biggest supporter. At the start of their college journeys, Dillon went to UCF while Caswell studied at the University of Massachusetts.
However, they reunited when the 5-foot-11 quarterback transferred to Oklahoma in 2022, and Zo relocated to Norman, continuing her studies at UMass. Evidently, both Caswell and Gabriel have moved mountains to make their relationship work and waited for the big moment with hopes in their hearts.
Their commitment deserves the love that they received from the Oklahoma and Oregon families. While Gabriel's rapport at Eugene still leaves its mark, the Heisman trophy contender is going strong on and off the field.
