"They're playing for clicks, we're playing for wins": When Dan Lanning threw shade at Coach Prime's Colorado Buffs
Dan Lanning's top-ranked Oregon could potentially play Deion Sanders' No.16 Colorado in the College Football Playoff this season. The two teams had met last season, when the Ducks crushed the Buffaloes 42-6 on Sept. 23, 2023.
Before handing Sanders his first defeat at Colorado, Lanning fired shots at Coach Prime's team. In his pre-game pep talk with his Oregon players in the dressing room last season, Lanning said:
"The Cinderella story is over, man. They're fighting for clicks, we're fighting for wins. There's a difference. This game ain't gonna be played in Hollywood,it's gonna be played on grass."
Sanders' Colorado had a bright start last season and had a lot of hype. The Buffs raced to a 3-0 record before losing to Oregon. Since then, Colorado stumbled and finished with a disappointing 4-8 record.
Meanwhile, Oregon finished with a 12-2 record and won the Fiesta Bowl. This season, on the other hand, Oregon is chasing the biggest prize in college football.
Dan Lanning's Oregon will aim to go all the way and win national title this season
Dan Lanning's Oregon (11-0, 9-0 in Big Ten) is one of the few teams that has still kept its unbeaten record this season. The Ducks are also in pole position to make the College Football Playoff.
However, many fans and pundits believe that Oregon could go all the way and win the national title. Lanning's team has been solid in both, offense and defense. Furthermore, Oregon quarterback Dillon Gabriel has led the team expertly and is in contention to win the Heisman Trophy.
The Ducks have an off in Week 13 and will play their final regular season game against Washington on Nov. 30.
Meanwhile, Colorado (8-2, 6-1 Big 12) is also in contention to reach the playoffs. The Buffs need to win both their regular season games to stand a chance at making the College Football Playoff. The Buffs will play Kansas on Saturday.
