The Oregon Ducks are yet to be beaten this season. With a perfect 12-0 record, the only team who has a chance to stop them would be the Penn State Nittany Lions in the Big 10 Championship game at the Indiana Colts’ Lucas Oil Stadium this Sunday.
On Wednesday, the CBS Sports College Football show focused heavily on the upcoming Oregon vs Penn State game.
“I’m gonna go with Oregon in this game, simply because I think there’s more diversification of their offense," Rick Neuheisel said. "I think these two teams rank very close to each other offensively but if you look at the statistics of receivers Tyler Warren has 81 catches and the rest of the wide receivers have 84.
"If you look at Oregon, they spread the ball across their fantastic roster and Dillon Gabriel is a coach’s delight because he does the things that don’t show up in a stat sheet just to help you win.”
Penn State’s fifth-ranked defense will be tested when they face the Ducks. So far this season, they've given up 95 rushing yards per game.
Oregon’s Dillon Gabriel will be the best quarterback Penn State has faced this season. Gabriel's accuracy, instincts and mobility compensate for his smaller size and make him a serious threat.
The Nittany Lions will have to take a page out of the Wisconsin Badgers’ book and pressure Gabriel and throw him off his rhythm every time he drops back.
Oregon gears up for historic game against Penn State for the first time in nearly 30 years
The Oregon Ducks are preparing to face the Penn State Nittany Lions in the 2024 Big Ten Championship game. The matchup came as a surprise to the college football world, as Penn State’s entry into the game was paved by Ohio State’s unexpected loss to Michigan.
This will be the fifth time Oregon and Penn State face each other in three decades. The last time both teams faced each other was in the 1995 Rose Bowl. Penn State won the game with a strong 38-20 victory.
This time around, the Oregon Ducks are stronger on paper.
