“This is a big deal”: Musician Jelly Roll expresses excitement as ESPN chooses “Get By” as official CFB anthem for 2024

On Thursday, ESPN announced rapper Jelly Roll's song "Get By" as its official anthem for the 2024 season. The tune will be played during ESPN’s college football coverage during the season and the musician expressed his excitement later in the day.

Roll appeared on the Pat McAfee show after his hit single was announced as ESPN's college football anthem for the 2024 season.

"I tell people, man, it's real easy. Where I'm from it goes College Football, Jesus, Lynyrd Skynyrd and in that order. People pick College Football over Jesus because college games are on Saturday, not Sunday," Roll said.
"God made college football before he took a day off. This is a big deal. This is huge, man."
“There’s a powerful connection between music and college football and for more than a decade, the ESPN college football music anthem has been integral to the promotion of the sport while its release has marked the unofficial start to the season," ESPN's Vice President of Marketing Curtis Friends stated [via AOL].
"Jelly Roll is a talented, award-winning artist whose music speaks to the passion of college football fans across the country, and we’re excited ‘Get By’ will soundtrack the sport all season long.”

Jerry Roll, whose real name is Jason Bradley DeFord, was born in Nashville, Tennessee. He began his music career in 2003 and rose to prominence nearly two decades later, in 2022, when he released two hit singles, "Son of a Sinner" and "Need a Favor."
