"This is horrible": CFB world mourns Khyree Jackson's tragic death by car accident

Terrible news confronted the football world on Saturday morning as former Oregon Ducks and Alabama Crimson Tide cornerback Khyree Jackson died in Maryland car accident. He was selected in the fourth round of the 2024 NFL Draft by the Minnesota Vikings.

There have been very few details that have emerged regarding his death at the time of this writing. But the news has been confirmed by his agent and former high school coach, as James Crepea posted below.

The sports world is mourning the loss of Khyree Jackson and people took to social media to post their tributes.

"My heart hurts for his family. Prayers being sent up for them during this tragic time," One person wrote.
"May the Lord welcome him into heaven and give his family peace. I am so sad for them. No parents should have to bury thier children. RIP," another person commented.

The sports world is trying to get more information about what exactly happened. It is also seeking ways to honor Khyree Jackson.

"Every Oregon jersey that gets released this year better have #5 on it," one Twitter user posted.
"Ah man that's awful. Prayers up to his friends and family. He had so much to give to football and life still. RIP," another user responded.

This is a sad day for college football and just sports in general. He was only 24 years old.

What did Khyree Jackson do in college football?

Khyree Jackson was one of the better cornerbacks in the country and this was evident with how he played the position.

Jackson played with the Alabama Crimson Tide for two seasons before transferring to play for the Oregon Ducks in 2023.

While playing for the Ducks, he stepped up and finished with 34 total tackles (25 solo, nine assisted) with a pair of sacks, three interceptions and seven pass deflections.

He would go on and get a lot of attention ahead of the 2024 NFL Draft for his ability to cover in the secondary. He would be selected in the fourth round, 108th overall by the Minnesota Vikings.

His untimely death has taken away a very capable football player whose best years probably lay ahead of him.
