"This Texas team is very versatile": Joel Klatt shows confidence in QB Quinn Ewers leading Longhorns to national championship

The No. 3 Texas Longhorns kicked their season off with an impressive 52-0 shutout win over Colorado State on Saturday. Texas' explosive offense led by Quinn Ewers has garnered plenty of attention following their big win as they enter a crucial Week 2 matchup versus Michigan.

The Longhorns are being considered as a national championship contender by many including Joel Klatt, who offered his praise to Texas on Friday's episode of the "Dan Patrick Show."

"[3:04] I can see Texas winning a national championship]. I think this Texas team is very versatile," Klatt said. "They're deep. They've got, I would say, the most experienced offensive line in the country."

The Longhorns' offensive line was impressive in their season opener, which paved the way for 190 rushing yards and three rushing touchdowns on 41 carries. The O-line also limited Colorado State to just one sack in the matchup.

Entering the Week 2 matchup versus No. 10 Michigan, Texas' offensive line will have a big-time test in the form of interior defensive linemen Mason Graham and Kenneth Grant. Graham is a projected top-10 pick in the 2025 NFL draft and earned All-American honors last season. Grant racked up 5.0 tackles for loss and 3.5 sacks in 2023, earning All-Big Ten honors.

Ann Arbor hotel flies Texas Longhorns flags ahead of Michigan-Texas matchup

As if the Wolverines still don't have enough fuel with Texas opening as 7.5-point favorites despite traveling to Michigan Stadium, now they have even more motivation as a hotel in downtown Ann Arbor was spotted flying Texas Longhorn flags ahead of the Week 2 matchup.

Rumors indicate that Cooper Manning, the father of Texas' backup quarterback Arch Manning, arranged for the flags to be put up outside The Graduate Hotel.

The matchup is set to be one of the most crucial in the 2024-25 college football season. The defending national champions will be tested after losing their quarterback, running back, receivers and head coach from last year's team.

Michigan's first-year coach Sherrone Moore will have the opportunity to notch his first top-five win after taking over the head coaching job full-time following Jim Harbaugh's departure.
