Top 5 teams with powerful offensive units entering Week 6 of college football ft. Tennessee Volunteers 

The college football season is in full swing as the calendar shifts to Week 6. There have already been multiple shocking upsets in the early stages of the season.

While the rankings have gotten a large shakeup as a result, there have been several offenses that have been impressive, standing out as elite units.

Here's a closer look at five offenses that have played great and should continue to do so in Week 6.

Top 5 offensive units in college football entering Week 6

#1. Tennessee Volunteers

The No. 4 Tennessee Volunteers have been elite offensively in the early portion of the college football season. They are averaging 54.0 points per game and 565.8 yards per game, ranking first and third in the nation, respectively. Their 275.8 passing yards per game ranks 33rd in the nation while their 290.0 rushing yards per game ranks fourth.

The Volunteers have gotten off to a 4-0 start with victories over the then-No. 24 NC State Wolfpack and then-No. 15 Oklahoma Sooners. They will continue their SEC slate in Week 6 as they head to Fayetteville to take on the Arkansas Razorbacks.

#2. Miami Hurricanes

The No. 8 Miami Hurricanes have also been an elite offensive unit in the first half of the season. Their 49.4 ppg and 585.6 ypg both rank second in the nation. The Hurricanes have averaged a league-leading 392.6 passing ypg and 193.0 rushing ypg, which ranks 38th.

They are 5-0 to begin the season and are in a position to contend for the ACC Championship Game and potentially a College Football Playoff berth. Miami will travel across the country to face the California Golden Bears in Week 6.

#3. Ohio State Buckeyes

The No. 3 Ohio State Buckeyes have been among the best offenses in the nation thus far. They are tied for third in scoring offense and fifth in yards per game, as they have averaged 48.8 ppg and 534.8 ypg. Ohio State is averaging 307.8 passing ypg and 227.0 rushing ypg, ranking 14th in the nation in both categories.

They have won their first four games of the season in dominant fashion, outscoring their opponents 195-27. Their Big Ten schedule continues in Week 6 as the Iowa Hawkeyes visit Columbus.

#4. Alabama Crimson Tide

The No. 1 Alabama Crimson Tide have been great offensively to open the season. They have averaged 47.0 ppg and 486.8 ypg, ranking eighth and 14th in the nation, respectively. The Crimson Tide average 265.0 passing ypg and 221.8 rushing ypg. Those marks rank tied for 40th and 16th in college football, respectively.

Alabama has gotten off to a 4-0 start, including last week's victory over the then-No.2-ranked Georgia Bulldogs, who entered the matchup ranked third in scoring defense and fourth in yards allowed per game. They visit the Vanderbilt Commodores in Week 6.

#5. Texas Longhorns

The No. 2 Texas Longhorns have been dominant on the offensive end through five games. They have scored 45.0 ppg and averaged 513.4 ypg, ranking 11th and eighth, respectively. The Longhorns have averaged 322.0 passing ypg and 191.4 rushing ypg, which ranks 10th and 42nd in the nation, respectively.

Texas has gotten off to a 5-0 start that includes a win over the then-No. 10 Michigan Wolverines. They will have a bye in Week 6 after beginning their first season of SEC play with a victory last weekend.
