Travis Hunter 2025 NFL Draft: 3 teams that could be interested in Deion Sanders' prime weapon
Travis Hunter has been among the premier players in college football since joining the Jackson State Tigers as a five-star prospect – and the top-ranked overall recruit – in the 2022 recruiting class. While he followed Deion Sanders to the Colorado Buffaloes via the transfer portal after just one season, he has thrived at the FBS level as well.
The two-way star is the favorite to win the Heisman Trophy after being named an All-American last season. He has caught 74 passes for 911 yards and nine touchdowns, adding one rushing touchdown. On the defensive side of the ball, teams have hardly targeted his side of the field. Hunter has recorded 24 total tackles, 17 of which were solo tackles, one tackle for loss, three interceptions, one game-winning forced fumble and eight passes defended.
Impressively, he has rarely taken a snap off on either side of the ball. Take a look at three teams that could draft the two-way star in the 2025 NFL draft, where he projects to be an early first-round pick.
Travis Hunter 2025 NFL Draft: 3 teams that could be interested in Deion Sanders' prime weapon
#1. Jacksonville Jaguars
The Jacksonville Jaguars are currently in position to land the top overall pick in the 2025 NFL draft. They are the only team in line for a top-five pick that does not need a quarterback as they gave Trevor Lawrence a $275 million extension prior to the season.
Jacksonville is currently 2-9 and have a need at both wide receiver and cornerback. If they land the top overall pick in the draft, they could look to fill two needs by drafting Travis Hunter.
#2. Las Vegas Raiders
The Las Vegas Raiders are in position to land the fourth overall selection in the 2025 NFL draft. While they have a glaring need at quarterback, there are only two quarterbacks projected to be selected in the top five. The Cleveland Browns and New York Giants are in line to select second and third overall, respectively.
If the draft order holds up, there may not be a quarterback worthy of a top-five pick available. In such a circumstance, the Raiders could pivot to Travis Hunter, who would fill multiple needs for the franchise.
#3. Tennessee Titans
The Tennessee Titans are projected to land the fifth overall pick in the 2025 NFL draft. They are in a similar position as the Las Vegas Raiders as they need a quarterback but may not land a high enough selection to land one. The Titans could look to give Will Lewis a dynamic weapon if they are unable to land a new signal caller while providing a boost to an already strong passing defense.
