Travis Hunter Credits “Wifey” For Turning Sour Richard Sherman Beef Into Hot Social Media Moment
Travis Hunter is stealing headlines in his second year with the Colorado Buffaloes. Many from the NFL and CFB world see him as a rising star, but Richard Sherman has a different perception. In a recent episode of The St. Brown Podcast, the five time All-Pro cornerback assessed Hunter as an NFL wide receiver, calling him "kind of bland."
As expected, Hunter took the Super Bowl XLVIII champ's opinions seriously and turned the narrative around with a stylish twist. He entered the FBC Mortgage Stadium for his Week 5 game against the UCF Knights wearing a t-shirt with the message "bland." His look went viral, and he recently revealed it was fianceē Leanna Lenee's ingenious idea.
"A good call by the wifey. She was like, 'Aye, you can capitalize off of that'. The whole receiving corps the bland t-shirt. It's extra motivation to me, extra motivation to us, man."
Hunter and his to-be-wife, Leanna, are already social media favorites, boasting 385,000 followers on their YouTube channel. However, the playful response from the Buffs' standout reiterated his fandom while answering doubters like Sherman.
The Florida native's abilities have helped him lead all Power Four players in snaps while ranking in the top five for receiving yards and touchdowns in CFB.

Travis Hunter in line for the Heisman Trophy
Hunter entered his second season under Deion Sanders' leadership with high hopes. His dual-threat skills have propelled Colorado to a 4-1 record and first place in the Big 12 conference. Having an amazing season so far, the 21-year-old's Heisman Trophy odds are strong.
As a wide receiver, he has amassed 37 receptions for 472 yards and five touchdowns this fall. As a cornerback, he has 14 tackles, one forced fumble and an interception.
Hunter currently faces considerable competition from Jalen Milroe, Cam Ward and Ashton Jenty in the Heisman race. Travis' game-changing plays, like the late touchdown against North Dakota State in Week 1 and the last-minute tackle against the Baylor Bears in Week 4, have made a loud impression.
However, his supporters are rallying behind Colorado's performance this year after the team's disappointing 4-8 record in 2023.
