Travis Hunter gets real on being challenged by Shedeur Sanders after his big mess up
Travis Hunter hasn't put one foot wrong in the 2024 college football season, and the Colorado Buffaloes wide receiver knows that. He is one of the major reasons Deion Sanders' team boasts a 4-1 record after six weeks.
In a chat with NFL legend Richard Sherman on his YouTube podcast, the Colorado Buffaloes wide receiver opened up about being challenged by his quarterback, Shedeur Sanders.
Despite being a key player for Colorado’s 4-1 record this season, Hunter revealed how tough love from Sanders keeps him on his toes. On 'The Richard Sherman Podcast', the NFL legend highlighted a previous game where Shedeur wasn’t entirely satisfied, saying:
"That game-winning touchdown you caught, Shedeur told you — you should have caught the other one."
Hunter’s response? He welcomed the criticism. The Colorado WR said:
"I like when they challenge me. Nobody really challenges me because I’m always doing the right thing. But when I mess up and somebody challenges me, it pumps me up to want to do better."
Hunter also praised the Buffaloes’ scout team, who push him hard in practice. Their trash talk and competitive energy help prepare him for real game moments.
"By the time the game comes, it’s just so easy for us," Hunter said. [24:00]
Considering this mindset, it’s no wonder Travis Hunter continues to rise to the occasion, with Shedeur Sanders helping him bring out the best every step of the way.

Richard Sherman - Travis Hunter fiasco
The ongoing saga between Richard Sherman and Travis Hunter had been heating up for some time now. It all started when the Super Bowl XLVIII winner raised concerns on the 'St. Brown Podcast' about Hunter’s ability to manage both wide receiver and cornerback roles in the NFL.
He labeled Hunter’s receiving skills “bland” and questioned whether he’d have the endurance for dual positions in the NFL. Sherman’s critique hit hard, but Hunter didn’t waste time firing back.
"Stop speaking on me, let me play football," he said.
However, the two cleared the air on Hunter’s podcast, 'The Travis Hunter Show', where Sherman clarified his comments. He explained that he used the word "blend" rather than "bland."
