"USC didn’t deserve this guy": Fans disapprove Miller Moss' massive future move after 2024 failure

Miller Moss’ time as a USC Trojan has come to a close as he announced, on Monday, that he will be entering the transfer portal. And while the move was expected after his demotion from the starting QB position, some fans aren’t thrilled about the junior quarterback leaving after just 10 games as a starter.

The LA native was relegated to the bench in favor of Jayden Maiava. As ESPN reporter Pete Thamel announced the move via his official X account, some fans responded by criticising the school.

"USC didn’t deserve this guy", a fan wrote.
"There's something deeper here at USC…why a player with a decent team is leaving, many players. something's up", another fan added.
"Need players with more than 1 yr!! Can't keep doing this every year", wrote one fan.

Some other fans thanked the quarterback for his time in Los Angeles and wished him good luck in his next stop.

"Thank you Miller Moss!", wrote one fan.
"Good luck Miller Once a Trojan, Always a Trojan", another fan added.
"Go be great!!!!", a fan said.

There were also a large number of reactions centered around his next destination, as fans tried to “lure” him to their favorite school.

"Go get him Andrew Luck", a Stanford fan pleaded.
"Florida st bound", one Seminoles fan said.
"Welcome to College Station", another fan wrote.
"As a badger, I will take him", a fan added.

Why did Miller Moss get demoted to backup duty?

After spending two years as Caleb Williams’ backup with the Trojans, the redshirt junior claimed the starting job before the season. The campaign started well after he led USC to a 3-1 record, including a win against the LSU Tigers at the Allegiant stadium in Las Vegas.

The wheels started to come off, after this. The Trojans would lose four of their next five, including a 26-21 loss at Washington. In the game against Washington, Miller Moss threw for two touchdowns but was intercepted on three occasions. The Trojans were also stopped twice on fourth down.

After the loss to the Huskies, Head Coach Lincoln Riley gave the keys to Jayden Maiava, a UNLV transfer who led the Trojans to wins over Nebraska and UCLA.

The Trojans have also secured the services of 5-star prospect Husan Longstreet for the 2025 season. The Centennial product is considered one of the top QBs out of High School. Considering the presence of two strong QBs in the team, opportunities for Miller Moss may have been limited.

While it’s too early to know about his suitors, Miller Moss is set to be one of the most sought-after quarterbacks in the transfer portal. Moss passed for 2,555 yards, 18 touchdowns and 9 interceptions in 2024.

The quarterback said that he would value playing for a team that can challenge for a conference title in his last year of eligibility. The potential best-fits for the QB are Utah, Boston College, San Diego State, Auburn and Missouri, but there should be no shortage of suitors.
