Wake Forest starting QB 2024: Who will start for Dave Clawson's team in Week 7?
Sixth-year senior quarterback Hank Bachmeier holds the top job on gridiron for Dave Clawson's Wake Forest, who'll take on ACC foes No. 10 Clemson Tigers on Saturday at Allegacy Federal Credit Union Stadium.
Bachmeier had a good game, snapping a three-game losing streak and winning a close 34-30 game against NC State.
Will Hank Bachmeier continue to start for Wake Forest?
There's no reason to move on from the college veteran who led the team to a big win last week.
There are no injuries reported, which means Hank Bachmeier will start under center with the likes of Michael Kern, Jeremy Hecklinski and Tyler Mizzell waiting in the quarterback room.
Hank Bachmeier spent the first four seasons with Boise State Broncos. In 2023 he transferred to Louisiana Tech for one season before joining Dave Clawson's program in 2024.
His best year came in 2021, when he racked up 3079 passing yards, including 20 touchdowns and eight interceptions.
The only other time he has even eclipsed the 2000 passing yards mark was last year with the Bulldogs, amassing 2058 yards along with 10 touchdowns and five interceptions.
This season already, he has completed 112 of 176 passes for 1313 yards, seven touchdowns and two interceptions.
Hank Bachmeier is a pass-heavy quarterback, as so far he only has 150 rushing yards in his career.
He gave his best in the season opener against North Carolina, where he recorded three touchdowns along with 263 passing yards.
Who are Hank Bachmeier's best offensive weapons in 2024?
Any quarterback is not complete without having the best guys he can place trust on the field. For Bachmeier, those are running back Demond Claiborne and wide receiver Taylor Morin.
Coming off a two touchdown, 136 rushing yards performance, Claiborne leads all-rushers on Wake Forest with 471 yards on 81 carries, averaging 5.8 yards. He has rushed with the ball in the endzone six times and the longest he covered is 66 yards.
Meanwhile, on the receiving corps, Hank Bachmeier's favorite target is Taylor Morin, who leads all route runners with 345 receiving yards on 26 catches. However, he hasn't scored any touchdowns.
Donovan Greene, who is questionable for the game against the Tigers, comes in second with 16 receptions, recording 271 yards and two touchdowns.
