The Rebels coach has no doubts about his QB1, as Jaxson Dart is the man for Kiffin this season. However, intense competition is brewing in the backup battle, with Walker Howard and Austin Simmons as the top contenders alongside true freshman AJ Maddox.
In an Ole Miss press conference on Monday, coach Kiffin acknowledged the strong performances of all his quarterbacks.
“It’s been really competitive in there. I think that all three are really smart and really do a good job handling and running the offense,” Kiffin said. “We should probably expect more out of Walker being the veteran of those three, but all three have done a really good job.”

Dart himself is enthusiastic about the depth and talent in the Rebels quarterback room.
“It’s a very talented room,” Dart told 247Sports' 'Inside the Rebels' forum Monday.
“There are guys with a lot of ability. I think what makes it very unique is they’re all very different in their strengths. It makes it a lot of fun watching and learning with each other.”
Last season, Lane Kiffin's Ole Miss boasted the No. 19 passing offense in the nation. With Dart at the helm and promising talent behind him, the Rebels are set to continue their aerial dominance.
