WATCH: $690,000 NIL-valued Isaiah Bond surprises Texas teammates with heartwarming presents
Texas wide receiver Isaiah Bond has been a hit in the Longhorns' pass-heavy system under coach Steve Sarkisian, helping lead the team to a 7-1 record this season. Bond entered the transfer portal in January when Alabama Crimson Tide head coach Nick Saban retired, ending up in Austin.
On Monday, the $690,000 NIL-valued Bond, per On3, had a special gift for his Texas teammates courtesy of performance fabric company 'Mizzen+Main.'
"I hope you had a great bye week, I hope you had a great weekend all but it's time to get to work," Bond said. "We've got to finish this great season strong 'cause we all have one goal, we all want to win. So let's just do this, I love y'all boys and I got you some t-shirts."
He captioned the Instagram post:
"When one wins, we all win 💯 | s/o @mizzenandmain," Bond wrote.
Bond leaving Bama was a 'business decision'
After Bond decommitted from Alabama due to Saban's retirement, he gave an interview to ESPN explaining why he left, calling it a 'business decision.'
"Just like the business world, you make the best decision for your company," Isaiah Bond said. "My company right now is my draft stock. I feel like I'm putting myself in a position to increase that and have better draft stock. One hundred percent. That was the decision why I left.
"It was really a business decision," Bond said. "I'm not taking any hatred in my heart. Nothing personal. I'm going to do what's best for me and my family."
Bond refused new Crimson Tide coach Kalen DeBoer's attempts to contact him and further lauded the setup at Texas under charismatic coach Steve Sarkisian who was once the offensive coordinator of Alabama under Saban.
"I like the whole package that comes with it," Bond said of Texas. "Great quarterback, they have a great offensive line. I felt like it was a great spot for me to come to. One hundred percent. He's (Quinn Ewers) a great big-time pocket-passer quarterback. He's a top pick in the draft next year. I'm also going to be a top pick. It's going to be a good duo."
Bond has since registered 380 yards on 23 receptions resulting in four touchdowns this season for the Longhorns as they bid for the SEC championship game and a spot in the expanded College Football Playoff.
Last season for Alabama, Bond tallied 668 yards from 48 catches resulting in four touchdowns including the famous fourth-and-31 touchdown pass from quarterback Jalen Milroe to win Alabama the Iron Bowl against the Auburn Tigers.
