WATCH: A look inside Nebraska Cornhuskers' massive 32,000 square feet weight room ahead of 2024 CFB season
The Nebraska Cornhuskers have a new massive facility for their football program. In a video shared by ESPN College Football on Instagram, a sneak peek into the new facility was given to the fans on social media. Built at the cost of around $165 million, it is being touted by the staff as the ‘best football building in the world.’
The new building has a total area of 315,000 square feet, with only its weight room alone, spanning 32,000 square feet. ESPN’s Sean Callahan got a glimpse of the weight room with all the advanced facilities for the student-athletes. Here, take a look at the weight room:
“The new facility is 32,000 square feet,” the caption of the post read.
The weight room is just a few steps from the practice fields and hosts a lot of amenities for player development and recovery. It has saunas, a red-light therapy area, hot and cold tubs, zero-gravity underwater treadmills and sleeping pods. The incline resistance training area can also be seen in the post.
“What Nebraska did, what our donors did, is they put our players, our football program in a position to be very successful and to have the most elite facility in college football,” Football Chief of Staff, Susan Elza said about the facility.
A big upside to such a massive weight room is that the Nebraska Cornhuskers can finally have their entire roster lift weights together. That is 149 athletes, including all the walk-ons. It wasn't possible in their old weight room and they have rectified it this time.
The Nebraska Cornhuskers’ first St. Louis area recruit since 2017
The Nebraska Cornhuskers have got the commitment of four-star prospect Jamarion Parker to their 2025 class. The running back was earlier committed to the Arkansas Razorbacks but pulled it in March after a coaching staff change. He is the first recruit from the St. Louis area to commit to Nebraska since 2017.
Parker made multiple visits to Nebraska, including attending their elite junior day in January. He also came to a spring practice in early April. The running back had offers from top Power 5 schools like Alabama, TCU and Missouri, among others, but chose to play for the Nebraska Cornhuskers.
Jamarion Parker is the ninth recruit to commit to play under head coach Matt Rhule and the team for the future is really taking shape at the Memorial Stadium.
